• Cats at bins

If you see cats at the bins please give them water, wet and/or dry food. Please do not put the food directly on the floor. Use a piece of cardboard, a plastic container or anything similar. If they eat the food of the floor, it could damage their teeth. Do not leave packaging from the cat food around the bins or other areas as this angers the locals.

  • No official cat shelters in Corfu

There are a few charities/groups in Corfu (like us, Agni Animal Welfare, Corfu Angel Cats Rescue, Kassiopi Cats, Angelina Cat Sanctuary, Stray Cats Roda and Nearby, the Ark) but none of them are government-funded. All work with donations. There are no official cat shelters in Corfu.

  • Cat in distress

Are you close to a vet? Do you have a car or can you take a taxi? Then please, borrow a cat carrier from the vet and take the cat to the vet yourself. There are only a few volunteers in Corfu and we are all busy trying to save as many cats as we can. You find a list of vets here.

There are vets open on weekends and bank holidays for emergencies. Here you can find a list.

If you cannot help the cat yourself, please get in touch with charities early on, not the day you are leaving and not after you leave the island. It is nearly impossible to find the cat then. Make sure you send pictures of the cat and surrounding and send a google-maps link, so it’s possible to see who is closest to you and could help. You can either message us or post your call for help in a facebook group (like Corfu Cats).

  • Found a cat you want to adopt?

If you find a cat you want to adopt, please ask first around if that cat is owned, bring it to the vet and get it checked and if possible vaccinated. Make sure the cat is not chipped (either by private owner or municipality after a TNR project). If a cat has been neutered already by a charity you can see on the left ear. There would be a V-shape or small straight cut. Until the cat is ready to travel, you will need a foster. If you don’t know someone, please try Corfu Cattery or Oana Aisha (both on facebook).

If you have questions about adopting a cat from Corfu please look on our FAQs or contact us.
